Diane Prince,a professor of education in the School of Education, Health Professions & Human Development at the University of Houston-Victoria, will retire on August 31 and become a professor emeritus. She joined the faculty in 1974 as an assistant professor.

Deaths
Alan Brinkley,professor emeritus of American history and provost emeritus at Columbia University, died on June 16. He was 70. Brinkley wrote several books, including Voices of Protest: Huey Long, Father Coughlin, and the Great Depression (Vintage Books, 1983), which won the National Book Award for history. Before he arrived at Columbia in 1991, he taught at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University, and the City University of New York.
Paul Otremba,an assistant professor in creative writing at Rice University, died on June 24. He was 40. Otremba wrote three books of poetry, including Levee (Four Way Books, 2019), and was published in several journals.
