Salvador D. Aceves, president of Regis University, in Denver, has been named president of the University of San Francisco.

Michael B. Alexander, former president of Lasell University, has been named interim president of Western New England University.

Michael B. Alexander, former president of Lasell University, has been named interim president of Western New England University.

F. DuBois Bowman, dean of the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan, has been named president of Morehouse College, in Georgia.

Michael S. Brophy, president of Hilbert College, has been named president of Hudson Valley Community College.

Sandra Bulmer, dean of the College of Health and Human Services at Southern Connecticut State University, has been named interim president of the university.

Laura Carlson, provost at the University of Delaware, has been named interim president.

Carrie Castille, former senior vice chancellor at the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture and former director of the USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture, has been named president of the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

Manny Diaz Jr., commissioner of the Florida Department of Education, has been named interim president of the University of West Florida.

Clinton R. Hayes, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Somerset Community College, in Kentucky, has been named president of Southwest Virginia Community College.

James Holloway, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at the University of New Mexico, has been named president of the University of Toledo.

S. Jack Hu, senior vice president for academic affairs and provost at the University of Georgia, has been named chancellor of the University of California at Riverside.

Charles Lee Isbell Jr., provost at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, has been named chancellor of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and vice president of the University of Illinois system.

Marva Johnson, group vice president of state government affairs for Charter Communications, has been named president of Florida A&M University.

Christopher (Mike) Johnson, chief of staff at the University of Houston and the University of Houston system, has been named the sole finalist for president of the University of West Georgia.

Matt Lee, vice president for agriculture and dean of the College of Agriculture at Louisiana State University, has been named interim president of the Louisiana State University system.

Iris S. Levine, former interim provost and special assistant to the president of California State Polytechnic University at Pomona, has been named interim president following Soraya Coley’s retirement.

Kathy Murphy, president of Gadsden State Community College, has been named president of Wallace State Community College. Both colleges are in Alabama.

John A. Nunes, interim president at California Lutheran University, has been named to the post permanently.

Leah Ward Sears, a member of the Emory University Board of Trustees, has been named interim president. Gregory L. Fenves, who has served as president since 2020, will transition to chancellor.

Tonya Smith-Jackson, provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs at North Carolina A&T State University, has been named chancellor of Rutgers University at Newark.

Francisco Solis has been named president of San Antonio College, after serving as interim president since March 2024.

William F. Tate IV, president of the Louisiana State University system, has been named president of Rutgers University.

Pamela Richardson Wilks, provost and executive vice president at Paine College, in Georgia, has been named president of Clinton College, in South Carolina.

James J. Winebrake, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, has been named president of Coastal Carolina University.

Resignations
Martha Saunders, president of the University of West Florida since 2017, plans to step down.

Retirements
David Bergh, president of Vermont State University, plans to retire after the 2025-26 academic year.

Jo Alice Blondin, president of Clark State College, in Ohio, plans to retire in June 2026.

Antoinette M. Hays, president of Regis College, in Massachusetts, will retire next year after 15 years leading the college.

Wendy Wintersteen, president of Iowa State University, plans to retire in January.

Benjamin C. Ayers, dean of the C. Herman and Mary Virginia Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia, has been named senior vice president for academic affairs and provost.

Roy Haggerty, executive vice president and provost at Louisiana State University, has been named provost and executive vice president at Oregon State University.

Chanta M. Haywood, interim provost and vice president for academic affairs at Coppin State University, has been named to the post permanently.

Laura Lee McIntyre, a professor of school psychology and dean of the College of Education at the University of Oregon, has been named provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at Michigan State University.

Gretchen Ritter, vice president for civic engagement and education at Syracuse University, has been named executive vice president and provost at the University of Minnesota.

Santiago Schnell, dean of the College of Science at the University of Notre Dame, has been named provost at Dartmouth College.

Ann Huff Stevens, dean of the College of Liberal Arts and a professor of economics at the University of Texas at Austin, has been named provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Maggy Tomova, dean of the College of Sciences and vice provost for strategic initiatives at the University of Central Florida, has been named executive vice president for academic affairs and provost at Augusta University, in Georgia.

Beth A. Winkelstein, deputy provost and a professor of bioengineering and neurosurgery at the University of Pennsylvania, has been named provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Northeastern University.

Bill Kibler, acting president of the College of Southern Nevada, has been named vice president for student affairs at Texas A&M University.

Karla Leeper, vice chancellor for strategic communication and public affairs at the University of Kansas, has been named vice chancellor for strategic communications and marketing at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

Brian Martensen, interim executive director of the Minnesota Polytechnic and Applied Learning Institute at Minnesota State University at Mankato, has been named vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Washington at Bothell.

Patrick Roche, vice president for principal gifts and interdisciplinary initiatives at the University of Minnesota Foundation, has been named vice president for institutional advancement at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County.

Jill Wilberg, chief operations officer for university advancement at Illinois State University, has been named vice chancellor for finance and administration at the University of Illinois at Springfield.

Kris Winter, associate vice president for student life at the University of Oregon, has been named senior vice president for undergraduate affairs at Utah State University.

Retirements
Brand Stille, vice president for enrollment at Wofford College, plans to retire after 38 years with the college.

Patricia Simino Boyce, dean of Health and Human Services at the City University of New York, has been named dean of the Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies at Fairfield University, in Connecticut.

Grant Cardon, a professor in the department of plants, soils, and climate at Utah State University, has been named interim dean of the newly merged College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences and Quinney College of Natural Resources.

Russell Crook, head of the department of management and entrepreneurship in the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee, has been named dean of the E. J. Ourso College of Business at Louisiana State University.

Theresa Hickey, associate dean of the College of Social Sciences and Education at California State University at Bakersfield, has been named dean of the College of Education at Western Oregon University.

Raj Khosla, head of the department of agronomy at Kansas State University, has been named dean of the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences at Washington State University.

Kamala C. Kiem, associate provost for student success and dean of students at Clark University, has been named dean of undergraduate student life for Columbia College and Columbia Engineering at Columbia University.

Sorin Lerner, a professor and chair of the department of computer science and engineering in the Jacobs School of Engineering at the University of California at San Diego, has been named dean of the Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science at Cornell University.

Thomas A. Lewis, dean of Brown University’s Graduate School, has been named dean of the Graduate School and vice provost for graduate education at Cornell University.

Keshia M. Pollack Porter, a professor in the department of health policy and management in the Johns Hopkins University’s Bloomberg School of Public Health, has been named dean of the school.

Kristina Rose, interim dean of libraries at New York University, has been named to the post permanently.

Kenneth Scheve, a professor of political science and global affairs and dean of social science at Yale University, has been named dean of the College of Arts and Letters at the University of Notre Dame.

Kamau Siwatu has been named dean of the College of Education at Texas Tech University, after serving as interim dean for the past year.

Saskia L. van de Gevel, chair and professor in the department of geography and planning at Appalachian State University, has been named dean of Virginia Tech’s College of Natural Resources and Environment.

Michael E. Young, a professor of psychological sciences and graduate-program director at Kansas State University, has been named vice provost and dean of the Baylor University Graduate School.

Sue Porterfield, vice president for research at Kean University, in New Jersey, has been named senior associate vice provost for research operations at the Johns Hopkins University.

Laura Rotunno, a professor of English at Penn State Altoona, has been named associate dean of academic affairs for Schreyer Honors College at Pennsylvania State University.

Kathleen Vogel, a professor in the School for the Future of Innovation in Society and former interim director of the School for the Future of Innovation at Arizona State University, has been named associate dean of faculty for the College of Global Futures.

Retirements
Caryn Chaden, associate provost for student success and accreditation at DePaul University, will retire after 39 years with the university.

Teresa Merriweather Orok, director of the Center for Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Economic Development at Alabama A&M University, has been elected president of the University Economic Development Association.

Resignations
Mitch Prinstein, chief of psychology at the American Psychological Association, plans to step down and return full time to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

DEATHS
John Thrasher, president emeritus of Florida State University, died on May 30. He was 81. Thrasher led the university from 2014 to 2021.
