David Daniels,a professor of voice in the School of Music, Theatre & Dance at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, has been dismissed. He was placed on administrative leave in August 2018 after allegations of sexual misconduct.
Dan Welcher,a professor in the Butler School of Music at the University of Texas at Austin, resigned after university officials found that he had sexually harassed students.
Deaths
Thomas J. Curry,a former provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth, died on March 20. He was 77. Curry arrived at the university in 1983 as a professor of electrical and computer engineering and later served as the dean of the College of Engineering and director of the Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Center.
Gerald Freedman,dean emeritus of the School of Drama at the University of North Carolina’s School of the Arts, died on March 17. He was 92. Before he served as dean, for 21 years, he taught at Yale University and the Juilliard School.

William Hodges Mobley,president emeritus of Texas A&M University at College Station and a former chancellor of the Texas A&M University system, died of cancer on March 25. He was 78. Mobley was president from 1988 until 1993, when he became chancellor, until he returned to teaching in 1994.
John F. Murray,a professor emeritus of medicine at the University of California at San Francisco, died of acute respiratory-distress syndrome, caused by Covid-19, on March 24. He was 93. Murray was a key figure in the study of acute respiratory-distress syndrome and other lung diseases. In addition to his work at UCSF, he served as chief of pulmonary at San Francisco General Hospital and president of the American Thoracic Society, and wrote The Normal Lung: The Basis for Diagnosis and Treatment of Pulmonary Disease (Saunders, 1976).
Joseph A. O’Hare,a former president of Fordham University, died on March 29. He was 89. O’Hare led the university from 1984 to 2003.
Carole Sullivan,dean of the College of Allied Health at the University of Oklahoma from 1994 to 2010, died on March 11. She was 78.
Lenard Wells,a professor in the department of criminology and criminal justice at the University of Memphis, died on March 21, after being diagnosed with Covid-19. He was 69.
