Steven J. Fluharty will become dean of the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Arts & Sciences in July. A senior vice provost for research and a professor of pharmacology, psychology, and neuroscience there, he will succeed Rebecca Bushnell, a professor of English who has been dean since 2005.
Lorrie Moore, the author of fiction including the short-story collection Birds of America and the novel A Gate at the Stairs, will teach at Vanderbilt University beginning next fall. She will become the Gertrude Conaway Vanderbilt Professor of English. She is now a professor in the humanities at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
