William B. DeLauder,former president of the Delaware State University, died on May 21. He was 81. DeLauder was president from 1987 until 2003, during which time the enrollment grew from 2,389 students to a then-record 3,367 and the institution’s name was changed from Delaware State College in 1993.
Kristi Larkin Havens,a lecturer in the department of English at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, died on April 29. She was 55. Havens also served as assistant director of undergraduate studies for the department.
Martin Kilson,professor emeritus of government at Harvard University, died on April 24. He was 88. In 1969, he became the first African-American to be named a full professor at Harvard College.
Georgia Lesh-Laurie,former chancellor of the University of Colorado at Denver from 1995 to 2003, died on May 9. She was 80. Lesh-Laurie served as chair of the biology department, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Graduate Studies, and interim provost at Cleveland State University before leaving to become chancellor at Denver.
