Chief executives

Appointments

Timothy J. Collins, chief government-relations officer at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, became president of Walsh University on August 5. He succeeded Richard Jusseaume, who has retired.

Rolando Montoya, former provost and trustee at Miami Dade College, has been named interim president. He replaces Eduardo J. Padrón, who stepped down at the end of August. Padrón announced his plan to retire in February.

Sheryl Van Gruensven, vice chancellor for business and finance at the University of Wisconsin at Green Bay, will become interim chancellor on October 1. She will replace Gary Miller, who has been named president of the University of Akron.

Chief executives

Appointments

Timothy J. Collins, chief government-relations officer at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, became president of Walsh University on August 5. He succeeded Richard Jusseaume, who has retired.

Charles F. Zukoski, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at the University at Buffalo, will become provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at the University of Southern California on October 1.

Dawn Alston, assistant vice president for business and financial affairs at Spelman College, has been named chief financial officer and vice president for business and financial affairs.

Scott Briell, vice president for enrollment management at Graceland University, in Iowa, has been named vice president for enrollment management and marketing at Notre Dame of Maryland University.

Jose Cantu, vice president for strategic partnerships at New Reach Media, a marketing firm that works with small colleges, has been named vice president for enrollment management at the University of Houston-Victoria.

Stephanie Delaney, dean of academic programs at South Seattle Community College, has been named vice president for instruction at Renton Technical College.

John DellaContrada, interim vice president for university communications at the University at Buffalo since September 2018, has been named to the post permanently.

Maureen Dumas, vice president for experiential education and career services at Johnson & Wales University, in Rhode Island, has been named vice president for advancement and university relations.

Joseph J. Greene, chief financial officer and treasurer at Johnson & Wales University, in Rhode Island, has been named vice chancellor for finance and administration.

Hannah Peters, associate dean of development and external relations at the Harvard Divinity School, will become vice president for development at Brandeis University on September 4.

M.L. (Cissy) Petty, dean of student experience at George Washington University, has been named vice president for student affairs and dean of students.

Rashmi Radhakrishnan, vice president for digital strategy and infrastructure and chief information officer at Albright College, has been named vice president and chief information officer at Arcadia University.

Fatiah Touray, assistant dean of diversity and international students at New York University, will become vice president for diversity, equity, and inclusion and special assistant to the president at Sarah Lawrence College on September 16.

Jorge Zeballos, executive director of the Center for Diversity and Inclusion at Kellogg Community College, has been named chief equity and inclusion officer.

Vivek Choudhury, associate dean of strategic initiatives and a professor in the School of Business at George Washington University, has been named dean of the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver.

David Allen Wehr, chair of piano at Duquesne University, has been named dean of the Mary Pappert School of Music.

Antonia R. Sepulveda, vice chair for translational research and director of the division of gastrointestinal pancreas and liver pathology in the department of pathology and cell biology at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center, has been named chair of the department of pathology and a professor of oncology in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences at George Washington University.

Rayid Ghani, director of the Center for Data Science and Public Policy and a research associate professor of computer science at the University of Chicago, has been named a professor with a joint appointment in the Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy and the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University.

Kerry Murphy Healey, former president of Babson College, has been named president of the Center for Advancing the American Dream at the Milken Institute, in Washington, D.C. The center will focus on education and the educator, among other issues.

Michelle Ruble, executive director of student life and athletics at the College of Southern Maryland, has been named president of the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators.

Deaths

John H. McArthur, a professor emeritus of administration at Harvard University, died on August 20. He was 85. McArthur joined the faculty of Harvard Business School in 1962 and also served as dean from 1980 until 1995.

Barry Stroud, a professor emeritus of philosophy at the University of California at Berkeley, died on August 9. He was 84. Stroud joined the faculty at Berkeley in 1961 as an assistant professor of philosophy. He wrote several books on philosophy and philosophers, including Hume (Routledge and Kegan Paul, 1977) and The Significance of Philosophical Skepticism (Oxford University Press, 1984).

Immanuel Wallerstein, senior research scientist in the department of sociology at Yale University, died on August 31. He was 88. Wallerstein taught at Columbia University, McGill University, and Binghamton University, and served as president of the International Sociological Association from 1994 to 1998.
