About These Data
This database shows the tuition and required fees at more than 3,300 colleges and universities in the academic years 2012-13 and 2011-12, as well as earlier years. Amounts from earlier years can be viewed by clicking on the institution’s name.
Tuition and fees for both state and out-of-state residents are listed. The total for tuition, fees, room, and board is also shown for institutions providing those figures in 2012-13 and 2011-12.
If an institution charges state and out-of-state residents the same rate, the amount is shown only in the “In-State” column and “n/a” is shown in the “Out-of-State” column. The designation “n/a” means data were not available or not applicable.
Many institutions, including most community colleges, do not offer room and board. In those cases, no figures are shown under “Tuition, Fees, Room, and Board.”
Figures under "% Change” reflect the change in the amount for in-state residents from 2011-12 to 2012-13.
An asterisk (*) indicates that an institution provided projected figures for 2012-13.
The data can be sorted by clicking on column headings.
The data do not reflect the cost of attendance at an institution after grants and other student aid are considered. This net cost is lower than the published fees shown.
The figures represent charges to first-time, full-time undergraduates based, typically, on a nine-month academic year of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter-hours.
Room-and-board fees charged by colleges may represent differing numbers of meals per week and so may not be comparable among institutions.
Amounts are not adjusted for inflation.
The College Board collected the figures for 2012-13 in its “Annual Survey of Colleges 2012.” © 2012, the College Board. This material may not be copied, published, rewritten, or redistributed without permission.
