Two men who ran an on-line workshop for 15,000 Internet beginners last year now plan to teach people how to use “Gopher.”
Richard J. Smith, who used to work in the library at the University of Southwestern Louisiana, and Jim Gerland, manager of network-user support services at the State University of New York at Buffalo, will teach the three-week course, “Navigating the Internet: Let’s Go Gopherin’.” The lessons, which are free, will be delivered to subscribers via electronic mail beginning on October 18.
