The 32 American universities that are seeking to raise at least $1-billion collected a total of $244-million in gifts and pledges during the last month for which they had data available.
The campaign with the largest gain in the last month is the University of Illinois system, with $20-million.
The 32 universities—each with its most recent total, last month’s increase, the original goal, and the planned completion date—are as follows:
Boston College, $605.9-million as of August 31 (increase of $15.6-million in the last month); the goal is $1.5-billion by 2015.
Brandeis University, $843-million as of May 31 (campaign totals not available by deadline); the goal is $1.5-billion by 2015.
Brown University, $1.421-billion as of August 31 (increase of $3-million in the last month); the goal was $1.4-billion by 2010.
Carnegie Mellon University, $594-million as of August 31 (increase of $1.6-million in the last month); the goal is $1-billion by 2013.
City University of New York, $1.521-billion as of April 30 (university reports figures quarterly); goal is $3-billion by 2015.
Columbia University, $3.26-billion as of August 31 (increase of $15.5-million in the last month); the goal is $4-billion by 2011.
Cornell University, $2.512-billion as of August 31 (increase of $5.4-million in the last month); the goal is $4-billion by 2011.
Dartmouth College, $1.234-billion as of August 31 (increase of $3-million in the last month); the goal is $1.3-billion by 2009.
Emory University, $971.2-million as of August 31 (increase of $12.9-million in the last month); the goal is $1.6-billion by 2012.
Indiana University at Bloomington, $1.01-billion as of August 31 (increase of $3-million in the last month); the goal is $1.1-billion by 2010.
Princeton University, $1.034-billion as of August 31 (increase of $4-million in the last month); the goal is $1.75-billion by 2012.
Rice University, $560.2-million as of August 31 (increase of $1.3-million in the last month); the goal is $1-billion by 2012.
Stanford University, $3.824-billion as of August 31, 2008 (university will have an annual report available later this year); the goal is $4.3-billion by 2011.
