Skilled craft workers — including electricians, plumbers, and carpenters — are among the best-compensated hourly employees of colleges and universities, according to a survey released on Monday by the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources.
Positions in service and maintenance — including food-preparation workers and custodians — are the worst-paid, the survey found.

Over all, the average median salary for hourly workers in 2015-16 rose by 2 percent.
