Dozens of Colleges Revoke Employee-Vaccination Requirements

Dozens of colleges are rolling back their Covid-19 vaccination mandates after a federal judge temporarily blocked the Biden administration’s order requiring the shots at all institutions that hold contracts with the federal government.

That block came on December 7, when Judge R. Stan Baker issued a preliminary injunction against the order, which was slated to take effect on January 4. Baker is a district judge in Georgia, but his injunction applies nationwide. (A Kentucky-based federal judge earlier granted a similar injunction in Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee.)

In the days since Baker’s decision, institutions have announced that they, in turn, would pause their own vaccination mandates for employees. Among those are state flagships and university systems. Here’s a list of the institutions we’ve identified so far that are pausing their mandates since December 7:
