Edinboro University of Pennsylvania said on Friday that it would begin a 10-day pause of in-person classes in the wake of a jump in Covid-19 cases on campus. As of Saturday, 56 students had tested positive for the coronavirus since Monday, according to the university’s tracker. Previously, the highest number of infections recorded in a week this year had been five. Three employers were also infected this week.
The university’s interim president, Dale-Elizabeth Pehrsson, said there was no evidence from contact tracing that transmission had occurred through instructional settings, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
