Some Colleges Are Loosening Their Mask Mandates: Here’s a List

As national Covid-19 case counts continue to drop and more people get vaccinated, some colleges are scaling back one of the most visible preventive measures against the disease’s spread: mask mandates.

Since May, a number of institutions have announced that they’ll no longer require masks on campus, though there are some caveats. Colleges’ rules often fall in line with CDC guidance, stipulating that masks are optional only for fully vaccinated people. Some colleges still require masks to be worn indoors, even if they’re no longer mandated outside.
