An Indian university and a consortium of New York City-based medical institutions joined five other bidders in submitting proposals for the chance to build, with city assistance, a new “applied sciences” campus in the city, Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced on Monday. Amity University, in India, submitted a bid seeking to build on Governor’s Island, and a group of institutions that include the New York Genome Center, the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Rockefeller University, and the State University of New York at Stony Brook put in a bid to develop a campus on a site in midtown Manhattan. The winner, or winners, will be announced in January.
