Bar Association Approves Package of Reforms for Law Schools

The American Bar Association has approved a series of reforms designed to better accommodate distance learning at law schools, among other things. Among the measures approved by the association’s House of Delegates:

• - An increase in the number of credit hours a student may take by distance learning from 12 to 15
• - A requirement that students take six credit hours in a legal clinic or “experiential” environment
• - For accreditation, a shift in emphasis from factors like the qualifications of incoming students to measures of students’ success, such as bar-exam scores
