Career Education Corp. Will Close, Not Sell, Culinary-Arts Campuses

The Career Education Corporation will close its 16 culinary-arts campuses, the company announced in a corporate filing on Wednesday. The announcement came one year after the company announced it would sell its Le Cordon Bleu campuses.

In its Wednesday filing, the company said it had been in discussions with a buyer for the campuses but couldn’t come to an agreement that would “protect student, faculty, and stockholder interests.” The campuses will be open until September 2017, the company said, to give current students “the reasonable opportunity to complete their program of study.”
