In response to sluggish enrollments, DeVry Inc. said on Monday that it planned to eliminate 570 jobs from across its institutions. The company, which owns a variety of for-profit colleges, is the latest of its peers to lay off staff members in the wake of enrollment declines and increased scrutiny from Congress and regulators. The company said it expected new enrollments for the summer term to drop 15 to 17 percent compared with the same term last year. The layoffs amount to a reduction of 5.4 percent of the company’s total work force of 10,500, according to the Associated Press.
