Glenn Beck’s Focus on CUNY Professor Brings Her Death Threats

The conservative commentator Glenn Beck has frequently singled out the liberal professor Frances Fox Piven as one of the proponents of what he says is a progressive onslaught against America, and now one of his Web sites has attracted death threats against her, The New York Times reported Saturday. Other publications suggest that Mr. Beck understands little about the scholarship of academics he objects to, including that of Ms. Piven, one of the world’s most respected political sociologists. The Center for Constitutional Rights has asked Fox News to urge Mr. Beck to refrain from mentioning the 78-year-old professor, for her safety, but the news group has refused.
