CEOs for Cities, with support from the Kresge Foundation and the Lumina Foundation for Education, has announced a $1-million prize for best performance on what the national network of urban leaders calls the most important economic-development strategy a city can undertake—increasing college attainment. The group will award its Talent Dividend Prize to the metropolitan area that posts the greatest increase in the number of postsecondary degrees granted per capita over a four-year period. The prize money will be used to support a “national promotional campaign” for the winning city.
