Harvard Team Is Disqualified for Cheating in College Video-Game Competition

A team representing Harvard University has been disqualified from an intercollegiate video-game tournament for cheating, ESPN reported. The winners of the competition, called “Heroes of the Dorm,” receive tuition money for their college careers, according to the event’s website.

A notice from tournament operators said that a competitor on Team Ambush, representing Harvard, had been caught sharing online-account information with a higher-rated player who was not on the team’s roster during official matches.

The notice said a team representing the University of Michigan had also been disqualified for a similar issue. Last year a team from the University of Connecticut was disqualified after one of its players did not register for the spring semester, according to Yahoo.
