Gov. C.L. (Butch) Otter of Idaho on Wednesday signed into law a measure to allow concealed guns to be carried on the state’s public-college campuses. The new law takes effect in July and will allow retired law-enforcement officers and individuals who hold concealed-weapons permits to carry guns on campuses, except in dormitories and certain other venues.
The presidents of Idaho’s eight public colleges and universities opposed the legislation, but Mr. Otter, a Republican, said he supported it on Second Amendment grounds.
