New Web Site Lists Colleges That Allow Loaded Firearms

Two antigun advocacy groups have started a new Web site, Armed Campuses, that lists the colleges and universities where people can carry loaded firearms. The groups—the Campaign to Keep Guns Off Campus and the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence—say the site will be a resource for parents and students deciding where to go to college. The site currently lists 25 colleges in four states (Colorado, Michigan, Utah, and Virginia), and may soon have more, as a number of state legislatures are considering bills to allow firearms on campuses where they are now banned. The site seems intended to deter students from enrolling on gun-friendly campuses, but it might also have the opposite effect—drawing attention to colleges where gun-toting students can find a home.
