A noose was found in a fraternity house at the University of Maryland at College Park, CBS Baltimore reports.
The noose was found around 1:30 p.m. on Friday in the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity house. The campus police are investigating the incident as a hate-bias incident, The Washington Post reports.
In a written statement, Wallace D. Loh, the university’s president, called the incident “despicable.”
“I resolutely condemn the use of a symbol of violence and hatred for the purpose of intimidating members of our University of Maryland community,” wrote Mr. Loh. “We stand against such craven expressions of bigotry.”
