Paul Quinn College Gets Good News on the Accrediting Front

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board gave its stamp of approval on Thursday to the national accrediting organization that Paul Quinn College turned to while on probation with its regional accreditor, The Dallas Morning News reported. The board voted unanimously to grant official recognition to the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools. The regional accreditor, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, tried to revoke the college’s accreditation in 2009, but restored it under a court order. Paul Quinn’s president, Michael J. Sorrell, who has been working to revive the historically black institution academically and financially, said the Texas board’s decision was a validation of the college’s strength.
