As tens of thousands of fans prepared to attend a home football game at Pennsylvania State University on Saturday, university officials issued an unusual warning: The campus police had learned of an anonymous threat against the stadium. After the police spent the morning sweeping the stadium for anything suspicious, they issued an “all clear” and allowed the game to be played as planned.
