Professor Is Out Following Investigation Into Anti-Gay Facebook Post

A business professor at an Ontario college no longer has his job after administrators investigated reports that he had made an anti-gay remark on Facebook. The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reports St. Lawrence College announced Tuesday on Twitter that it had investigated claims against Rick Coupland and that he no longer works at the college:

The episode began when screenshots of a Facebook post by Mr. Coupland made the rounds on Twitter. In the images of the post, Mr. Coupland appears to comment on the raising of a rainbow flag in St. Petersburg, Fla., by saying, “It’s the queers they should be hanging, not the flag.”

The professor did not respond to the CBC’s request for comment on Tuesday.
