This is just the world we live in, and Utah Valley University is ahead of the curve.
The Orem campus has divided a staircase leading to its Student and Wellness Center into three lanes: one for walking, one for running, and one for texting. The central motivation, reports the website Fusion, wasn’t to prevent collisions (though it might). It was to comment on the habit, especially among students, of texting while walking.
“It’s meant to be there for people to look at and enjoy,” Matt Bambrough, the university’s creative director, told Fusion.
