William C. Bradford, the law professor at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point who recently denounced scholarly critics of U.S. tactics against terrorism as traitors and “unlawful combatants,” has resigned from West Point, according to reports by The Atlantic and the blog Retraction Watch.
Retraction Watch said it had received a statement from West Point confirming that Mr. Bradford had resigned on Sunday. “He was hired on Aug. 1, 2015, and taught 5 lessons from Aug. 17-Aug 27,” the statement said. “He taught a common-core law course.”
Mr. Bradford’s denunciation of “treasonous” academics came in an article that appeared in the Spring/Summer 2015 issue of the National Security Law Journal, a student-edited publication based at George Mason University. The journal has since repudiated the article and apologized for publishing it.
The British newspaper The Guardian called attention to the article on Saturday.
