Higher Ed’s Digital Future: Research Universities

ChroniclePage_120622_DigitalFuture_Verizon.png

Universities face a future in which digital opportunities abound, in both their educational and their research missions. But taking advantage of those opportunities is a challenge.

To better serve students, the institutions often are collecting data and building online or hybrid courses. To better serve researchers, they often are advancing remote lab capabilities and bolstering supercomputing power, on campus and in the cloud.

All of those changes put a strain on data governance, aging IT infrastructure, and information security. But perhaps most challenging, they require universities to change how people do their jobs, including technologists, academic- and student-affairs staff members, and professors.

Join The Chronicle’s Ian Wilhelm for a virtual forum on Tuesday, December 6, at 2 p.m. ET, as he talks with technology experts about the road ahead for universities and how best to navigate it.
