Higher Ed’s Remote-Work Experiment

Before the pandemic, the prospect of a remote work force would have been unthinkable for most colleges. Yet the pandemic’s abrupt virtual shift revealed that it was not only possible but could offer financial benefits and efficiencies. As the pandemic stretches into its second year and remote work continues for faculty and staff members, what have colleges learned? And what predictions are they making about the future?

A panel of experts will examine those questions in a virtual forum, “Higher Ed’s Remote-Work Experiment,” offered in partnership with Educause. Hosted by Ian Wilhelm, a Chronicle editor, the forum will also explore:

  • Departments and divisions best suited to remote operations.
  • Managing a higher-ed work force remotely.
  • Faculty attitudes toward remote work.
  • Permanent changes colleges are making to support remote work.
