What it Takes to Be a “Student-Ready” Team Now

ON DEMAND: This Chronicle virtual forum is hosted by veteran Chronicle writer Jack Stripling, who brings together a panel of dynamic presidents from across sectors to discuss institutional stewardship and morale. This session focuses on how leaders define their priorities, how they make decisions, and what shifts they see for higher education on the horizon. Supported by Workday. Watch on demand.

The Covid-19 outbreak has reshaped the educational path of students. In just a few short weeks, senior administrators and members of their teams must be prepared to be a “student ready team” - working together to create an environment that supports the needs of students, whether it be in the classroom, remote, or a mix of both.

Join Chronicle host Ian Wilhelm and a panel of senior administrators for a discussion of the growing needs of students in this uncertain time and what it will take in the ‘new normal’. The conversation will explore:

  • How can CFOs, CIOs, and those who oversee student and academic affairs develop that environment?
  • How can they understand each others’ roles better and acquire a shared understanding of what students require today?
  • How do they break through campus silos and the potential challenges of remote work, budget cuts, and the uncertainty of the pandemic?

Panelists include:

  • Patricia Johnson, Vice President for Finance and Administration, Lehigh University
  • Sasi K. Pillay, Chief Information Officer, Washington State University
  • Nancy Young, Vice President of Student Affairs, University of Maryland, Baltimore County
