Supporting Student Learning in the Fall
The fall semester’s long-awaited “return to normal” is upon us, but many administrators and faculty members expect that the return to campus will require a greater adjustment than once imagined. After 17 months of living, learning, and working remotely, how will students react to a more-traditional campus environment? And what does that anticipated period of adjustment mean for academic and student-learning outcomes?
In a virtual forum, “Supporting Student Learning in the Fall,” a panel of experts will join Beckie Supiano, a Chronicle senior writer and co-creator of our Teaching newsletter, for a discussion of how colleges can help students adjust to yet another new learning experience. Questions to be discussed include:
- How should administrators and faculty members assess student-learning outcomes now?
- After a time when grades and testing were often relaxed, how can colleges best reintroduce educational norms, while understanding that we remain far from normal?
- How has the pandemic reshaped how faculty members should approach assignments, assessments, and grades?
