How one university cut an entire DEI division
- The University of Texas at Austin laid off dozens of employees in April, most working in the division of campus and community engagement. Though employees were aware that Senate Bill 17, which banned diversity training and programs that promote differential treatment on the basis of race, gender, or sexuality at public colleges in Texas, for many the news came as a shock. Our Katherine Mangan reports on the layoffs and how they are raising alarms at other institutions’ DEI offices that could see similar cuts.
