Marvin W. Meyer, a professor of Bible and Christian studies at Chapman University, died on August 16 of complications of melanoma. He was 64. He helped to translate the Gospel of Judas and is credited with bringing to light the work of Gnostic authors, whose beliefs were once dismissed as heresy.
Roger D. Fisher, a Harvard Law School professor for over 40 years, died on August 25 at age 90. He was an author of the 1981 book, Getting to Yes: Negotiating Agreement Without Giving In.
Barbara Mack, a journalism professor at Iowa State University, died suddenly on August 23. She was 59.
