Lesley College, a century-old women’s college that is part of Lesley University, in Cambridge, Mass., said it plans to start accepting men in January in a move intended to expand its shrinking applicant pool.
Margaret A. McKenna, the university’s president, said this month that the decision had been driven by the college’s mission, not its bankbook.
An expanded applicant pool would make the college more competitive and help it take advantage of its strengths as a liberal-arts college, she said.
With 500 students, Lesley College is a small part of the university, which has an enrollment of 13,000.
