E. David Davis, a physics professor at North Carolina State University, was suspended on Wednesday after students reported he had said women “are useless” during a lecture.
“The faculty member has been immediately suspended from teaching while this incident is being further investigated,” a university spokesman said in a written statement. “At N.C. State we take pride in our campus culture, which values and strives to live our commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity.”
Students in the class, “College Physics I,” recounted to a local television station that Davis, a research associate professor, had called on two female students who could not answer his questions about a recent assignment.
