Does Doris Dixon know when to fold ‘em?
Ms. Dixon, the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s head lobbyist, is leaving her job in the middle of the N.C.A.A.'s biggest Congressional battle in years. After spending much of the past two years fighting for legislation banning gambling on college sports, Ms. Dixon is leaving the association to lead a Washington foundation that raises money for arts programs for children with disabilities.
Ms. Dixon was hired in 1995 as the N.C.A.A.'s first director of federal relations, and opened an office in the One Dupont Circle building that is home to many educational associations.
