One of the documents on the Gorbachev-Bush summit table last week was an agreement to expand undergraduate student exchanges between the United States and the Soviet Union.
A State Department source said the agreement would seek to increase the number of exchange students in stages over the next five years, with a goal of 1,500 students from each country by 1995. Currently about 500 American students and 250 Soviet students are involved in exchanges, which generally have been arranged by individual institutions.
