Richland College, in Dallas, has become the first community college ever to win the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, an honor bestowed by the White House for “quality and organizational performance excellence.”
Richland, which was one of six organizations to receive the award this year, won on the basis of a variety of factors, including student satisfaction and retention rates, improved operational costs per credit hour, a wellness program for employees, and creative strategies for using adjuncts and keeping them engaged.
