President Clinton in June nominated A. Lee Fritschler, the outgoing president of Dickinson College, to be the Assistant Secretary for postsecondary education.
Mr. Fritschler, who will officially retire from Dickinson this week, said in an interview that he was eager to start the job. During his 12 years as president of the college in Carlisle, Pa., he emphasized international education, undergraduate science, and foreign-language education.
In 1991, he co-founded the Annapolis Group, a coalition of 110 presidents from the country’s leading liberal-arts colleges that argued for increased support for liberal-arts programs.
