The acronym is the same, but SAT no longer stands for the Scholastic Aptitude Test.
The Trustees of the College Board have voted to change the name of its college-admissions test to the Scholastic Assessment Tests. Donald M. Stewart, president of the College Board, said the new name was a way of emphasizing the changes in the content and format of the test.
