Prairie View A&M University unhappily entered the record books last month as the losingest college football team ever.
The Panthers lost their 51st consecutive game since 1991, when Prairie View revived its athletics program. The university had suspended all its sports teams in 1990 amid a financial scandal in the athletics department. The football team, which does not offer scholarships, competes in a league in which all other colleges do offer football scholarships.
With a 64-0 loss to Grambling State University, Prairie View surpassed the mark of 50 straight defeats set by Macalester College from 1974 to 1979.
