Appointments
Sunil Ahuja, provost and vice president for academic and student affairs at Shawnee State University, has been named president of Lakeland Community College, in Ohio.

Wendy Cadge, dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Science at Brandeis University, in Massachusetts, has been named president of Bryn Mawr College, in Pennsylvania.

Ryan Foley, interim president of Savannah Technical College, in Georgia, has been named to the post permanently.

Tommy Gregory, a member of the Florida House of Representatives, has been named president of the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota.

Chato Hazelbaker, president of Northland Pioneer College, in Arizona, has been named president of Pueblo Community College, in Colorado.

Jonathan Levin, dean of the Stanford Graduate School of Business, has been named president of Stanford University.

Lisa A. Lori, a partner at the Philadelphia-based law firm Klehr Harrison Harvey Branzburg LLP, has been named president of Marywood University, in Pennsylvania.

Richard K. Lyons, associate vice chancellor and chief innovation and entrepreneurship officer and former dean of the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley, has been named chancellor.

Bill Mitchell, vice president for administration and chief financial officer at Massasoit Community College, in Massachusetts, has been named interim president of the college following the passing of President Ray DiPasquale.

Sylvia Torti, a former dean of the Honors College at the University of Utah, has been named president of the College of the Atlantic, in Maine.

Lawrence P. Ward, vice president for learner success and dean of campus life at Babson College, in Massachusetts, has been named president of the University of Hartford, in Connecticut.

Sheri Everts, chancellor of Appalachian State University, in North Carolina, planned to step down in April.

Retirements
Kathi Hiyane-Brown, president for 17 years of Whatcom Community College, in Washington, will retire in March 2025.

Dianne Lynch, president of Stephens College, in Missouri, plans to retire next year.

Gabriel Barreneche, dean of the Evans School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences and a professor of Spanish at Berry College, has been named provost and vice president for academic affairs at Oglethorpe University, in Georgia.

April Bedford, senior associate provost for academic programs and services and interim provost at the City University of New York’s Brooklyn College, has been named provost and senior vice president for academic affairs.

Christine J. Gardner, dean of the School of Graduate, Professional, and Extended Studies at Gordon College, in Massachusetts, has been named provost of Messiah University, in Pennsylvania.

Teresa A. Garrett, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college and a faculty member in the chemistry department at Sweet Briar College, in Virginia, has been named executive vice president for academic affairs and provost at Hendrix College, in Arkansas.

Monique Guillory, chief of staff and senior vice president at the University of the District of Columbia, has been named provost and chief academic and enrollment officer at Dillard University, in Louisiana.

Leah Fullman, founding dean of the College of Health Sciences at Faulkner University, in Alabama, has been named dean of the School of Speech-Language Pathology at Pepperdine University, in California.

Kroc School of Peace Studies at the University of San Diego.

Erik Lowry, associate professor in the School of Education at Francis Marion University, in South Carolina, has been named dean of the school.

Resignations
Judith Kelley, dean of the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University, plans to step down at the end of the academic year.

Glen Krutz, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Colorado at Boulder, plans to step down and return to the faculty.

Cecilia M. Smith, a professor and interim academic chair in the department of medicine at Drexel University’s College of Medicine, has been named associate dean of the Pennsylvania university’s Tower Health Regional Campus.

Renee Wells, assistant vice president for education for equity and inclusion at Middlebury College, in Vermont, has been named assistant vice president for diversity, equity, and inclusion at Queens University of Charlotte, in North Carolina.

Anna Drake Warshaw, managing director of the University Innovation Alliance, has been named president of the Associated Colleges of the South.

DEATHS
David Egilman, a clinical professor of family medicine at Brown University who served as an expert witness in a lawsuit against Johnson & Johnson, died earlier this year. He was 72.

Peter Higgs, a professor at the University of Edinburgh, in Scotland, who proposed the existence of the “God particle,” died on April 8. He was 94. Higgs shared the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2013.

Herbert Kroemer, a professor emeritus at the University of California at Santa Barbara, died on March 8. He was 95.

David Roselle, a former president of the University of Kentucky and the University of Delaware, died on April 15. He was 84.
