DEATHS The Rev. William J. Byron, president of the University of Scranton from 1975 to 1982, died on April 9. He was 96.
Anne Innis Dagg, a Canadian zoologist who taught at the University of Guelph and the University of Waterloo, in Ontario, died on April 1. She was 91. Dagg was the subject of a 2018 documentary, The Woman Who Loves Giraffes.
Daniel Dennett, professor emeritus at Tufts University, has died at age 82.
O. Jerome Green, president of Shorter College, in Arkansas, has died at age 69.
Barbara Joans, an anthropologist who taught at San Jose State University and wrote Bike Lust: Harleys, Women, and American Society (2001) about her study of motorcycle culture, died on March 6. She was 89.
Ellen Ash Peters, the first woman on the faculty of Yale Law School, the first female justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court, and, more recently, a visiting professor at the University of Connecticut Law School, has died at age 94.
