Kathryn Masterson reported on the almost-$30-billion world of college fund raising for The Chronicle of Higher Education. She also covered other areas of higher-education management, including endowments.
Before coming to The Chronicle, in 2008, she was a staff writer for the Chicago Tribune’s RedEye edition and a freelance writer for the Tribune’s national section. She has worked as a reporter and editor for the Associated Press in Hartford, Conn., covering the state legislature with a focus on education. She has also worked as a reporter for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Masterson earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and journalism from the University of Richmond and a master’s from Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism.
