To the Editor:
Columbia embraces public discussions about China and the Chinese government involving speakers with both sympathetic and critical views. We see such open debate as essential to our mission. This commitment was on display in recent months when Columbia welcomed Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen to our campus for a rare U.S. speech and later hosted a panel discussion featuring student leaders of Hong Kong’s protests. In each case, we were undeterred by surrounding controversy.
We're sorry. Something went wrong.
